Reiki
The name Reiki derives from two Japanese characters that describes the energy itself;
rei' (meaning "unseen' or 'spiritual')
ki (Chinese qi, meaning 'energy' or life force)
Reiki is a therapy in which the practitioner transmits a Universal energy to a person, whether from a distance or by placing the hands on or near that person. The intent is to help the body heal itself by raising the amount of vibrational ki (energy) in and around the client, reducing negative energies.
Reiki is also utilized as a preventive measure. Reiki can be practiced along with other complimentary and alternative medicine therapies, and along with conventional medical treatment.
In the United States, Reiki is part of complimentary and alternative medicine (CAM). Reiki is utilized in wellness centers, cancer centers, hospitals, and by individuals who wish to maintain optimal health.
